Photoluminescence in amorphous YNiO3 and La0.5Nd0.5NiO3 systems

Photoluminescence (PL) at room temperature has been achieved in amorphous powders of the YNiO3 and La0.5Nd0.5NiO3 systems. They were prepared by the polymeric precursor method. The energy position of maximum PL emission and the intensity showed dependence on the rare earth element (RE) size. The RE...

Description
Summary:Photoluminescence (PL) at room temperature has been achieved in amorphous powders of the YNiO3 and La0.5Nd0.5NiO3 systems. They were prepared by the polymeric precursor method. The energy position of maximum PL emission and the intensity showed dependence on the rare earth element (RE) size. The RE small size suggests increase of non-bridging oxygens in the amorphous NiO6 network. These results support the relationship between photoluminescence and structure in Ni3+/Ni2+-based amorphous materials. 10 refs.
