Description
Summary:A facility for mechanical testing of a magnet insulation sample is described which is part of the ITER related R and D program. The facility is aimed at testing isolated conductors and different materials for mechanical and electrical strength at cryogenic temperature and in vacuum. The maximum value of mechanical load is 900 kN; the voltage is 135 kV. The facility comprises an electromagnetic press, including two superconducting coils and the mechanical system.< >
