2-Diphenylphosphinoazacyclopentadienylmanganese tricarbonyl as a new bridging ligand

Treatment of [Mn 2(CO) 10] with diphenyl(2-pyrrolyl)phosphine (Ph 2P-2-C 4H 3NH) leads to simple substitution products, the product of PC bond cleavage [Mn 2(μ-H)(μ-PPh 2)(CO) 8], but the most interesting product (21%) is the trinuclear compound [Mn 3(μ 3- P, N,η 5-Ph 2PC 4H 3N)(CO) 11], the X-ray...

Description
Summary:Treatment of [Mn 2(CO) 10] with diphenyl(2-pyrrolyl)phosphine (Ph 2P-2-C 4H 3NH) leads to simple substitution products, the product of PC bond cleavage [Mn 2(μ-H)(μ-PPh 2)(CO) 8], but the most interesting product (21%) is the trinuclear compound [Mn 3(μ 3- P, N,η 5-Ph 2PC 4H 3N)(CO) 11], the X-ray structure of which shows it to contain the bidentate ligand, 2-diphenylphosphinoazacyclopentadienylmanganese tricarbonyl, Mn(η 5-Ph 2PC 4H 3N)(CO) 3, which bridges across a Mn 2(CO) 8 unit as a novel four-electron donating chiral N, P-ligand.
