Summary: | Propagation of 1D short (of the order of a few wavelengths) nonlinear wave packets and envelope solitons in a smoothly inhomogeneous medium with a linear potential using the general nonlinear equation of the third-order approximation of the dispersion theory is considered. First, the explicit solution for the trajectories of nonlinear waves is studied. There are different modes wave packet movement depending on the value of the third-order terms. Then, the explicit envelope-soliton solution is obtained. This solution may be reduced, in a particular case, to the well-known Chen soliton solution. |
