Description
Summary:Dicyanodiacetylene, NC–CC–CC–CN, was dissociated by UV irradiation of matrix-isolated species. A group of well-correlated vibrational bands was produced. Given the limited number of conceivable reactions taking place in a rigid matrix environment, and the reasonable agreement with MP2 calculations, one can tentatively assign these bands to cyanoisocyanodiacetylene, the simplest isomer of the parent molecule.
