Description
Summary:In this paper, we wish to report the synthesis and characterization of sulfonated-phenylacetic acid coated on Fe3O4 nanoparticles by a simple method. This catalyst was effectively employed as a novel acid magnetic catalyst for the one-pot synthesis of different 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones under mild and solvent-free conditions. This catalyst was easily prepared and showed excellent level of reusability. Sulfonated-phenylacetic acid coated on Fe3O4 nanocomposite was successfully prepared by a simple method, which was effectively employed as a novel acid magnetic catalyst for the synthesis of various 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones under mild conditions. [Display omitted] •Interaction between sulfonated-phenylacetic acid coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles lead to good chemical stability.•This new catalyst exhibited high catalytic activity for Biginelli reaction.•3,4–dihydropyrimidin–2(1H)–ones were synthesized under mild reaction conditions.
