Description
Summary:Grinding balls with a standard diameter of 100 mm are typically manufactured using double-helical rolls. The rolling of balls with design setting parameters is characterized by the increased wear of working rolls and a high load on the main mill drive. Since increased wear of flange surfaces also leads to the appearance of characteristic defects on the ball surface, improving the standard roll pass design becomes a priority direction. The present article provides the results of a new roll pass design, as well as the results of experimental rolling of grinding balls diam. 100 mm using the developed design. The results of pilot rolling show that the developed roll pass design and recommended mill setting parameters produces grinding balls of the required shape and size with satisfactory surface quality, as well as reducing wear of working roll passes together with the load on the electric motor of a mill main drive.
