Abstract The method of forestalling adaptive correction is considered, the basis of which is solution of the problem of the phase distribution forecast of the next time moment using the optical measurements data obtained presently by the Shack-Hartmann sensor. This method can be used for improvement both of efficiency of the turbulent distortion correction and the dynamic characteristics of the adaptive optical system on the whole. The results of numerical experiments are presented.
