Summary:The CAIVIAC modular instrumentation scheme provides a standardised means of data transfer between plug-in units within the same crate (data-bin). An extension of the scheme permits multicrate systems to make use of a standard interconnection which incorporates flexible dem. and handling and automatic adjustment of the transfer timing. With the exception of the computer interface all components of a system are then computer independent and interchangeable.
