Summary:	Plasma-exchange is one of many treatments available for the prevention and management of hemorrhage in patients with factor VIII inhibitors. Details of exchange technique and the frequency of treatment are determined by the clinical situation, venous access and the availability of equipment, staff and blood products. In view of the many difficulties associated with plasma-exchange, other treatment options are likely to be preferred in most circumstances. The technique remains attractive as a means for reducing inhibitory activity before elective surgery and during life-threatening hemorrhage.
