Description
Summary:The effect of the structure of nonionic surfactants on the self-organization (aggregation) of the hydrophobic compound β,β,β′,β′-tetramethyltribenzotetraazachlorin solubilized in solutions of these surfactants has been investigated in the present work. Changes in the spectral properties of the solute resulting from its aggregation were assessed. The degree of β,β,β′,β′-tetramethyltribenzotetraazachlorin aggregation has been shown to depend on the length of the hydrophobic moiety of the surfactant molecule. Evidence on the absence of correlation between the degree of aggregation of the solubilized photosensitizer and the numeric value of the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of the surfactant has been obtained. The method of dynamic light scattering has been used to show that the dynamic rearrangement of micelles is one of the reasons for the aggregation of substituted tetraazachlorins in colloidal solutions of nonionic surfactants. The study of changes in the aggregation degree of tetraazachlorins in solutions of nonionic surfactants at dilution proved the possibility of redistribution of solubilized photosensitizer in investigated micellar systems.
