Abstract It is widely that the findings of behavioral science are somehow in conflict with the foundations of ethics and morality. It now appears that, when the findings of sociobiology and ethology are properly interpreted within the context of a more complete theory of behavior, they are surprisingly compatible with commonsense understanding. Far from threatening a major change in moral and ethical concepts, they seem to provide just one more step in the evolution of our understanding of moral and ethical principles as an essential element of human social behavior. This paper provides a brief overview of the broader scientific interpretation to illustrate its basic compatibility with commonsense ethical concepts.
