Description
Summary:The propagation of an extremely short optical pulse is analyzed based on a numerical solution of the Maxwell equation for a dilaton field in a flat space-time. The dynamics of the pulse turned out to be unstable and the pulse collapsed. The influence of the Lagrangian parameter α is analyzed in cases of the Einstein–Maxwell scalar theory, low-energy action of string theory, and the Kaluza–Klein field equations obtained by dimensional reduction of the Einstein five-dimensional theory.
