Summary: | Covalent‐organic frameworks: This review represents the progress made on the design principles and synthetic strategies for the construction of COFs and their composites for various energy applications such as different types of metal‐ion batteries (MIBs), supercapacitors, water splitting (hydrogen evolution reaction, HER and oxygen evolution reaction, OER) and solar cells. Attempts have been made to correlate the structural and mechanistic characteristics of COFs with their applications. An understanding is developed of various strategies to tailor their performance towards desired applications, which will shed light on some possible modification aspects of COF structures with various conducting additives to greatly boost their properties. For more information, see the Review by S.M. Mobin et al. on page 13669. |
