Summary:Russia’s aviation industry is particularly affected by sanctions and restrictions imposed by unfriendly nations in the current unstable political situation. That sets a high priority on import substitution and the replacement of imported aircraft components by Russian equivalents. The role of the import substitution strategy in Russia’s economic policy is shown; and the corresponding goals and instruments are presented. The implementation of Russia’s import substitution strategy in the aviation industry may be assessed by hierarchy analysis. The aircraft components that are of highest priority for manufacture in Russia are identified.
