Summary:A method is proposed for determining the maximum shear strain and stress of elastic shafts in magnetorheological couplings, on the basis of the finite-element method. To determine the angular mismatch of the coupling, the torque may be established by measuring the torsional deformation of the shafts, using broad-band frequency modulation.
