Description
Summary:[Introduction] We have verified that early goal-directed therapy (GDT) is useful for the standardization and optimization of circulation management in pancreas surgery. [Subjects and Methods] Thirty-two patients scheduled for pancreas surgery were divided into groups that received GDT and control management. In the GDT group, infusion volume was managed using stroke volume variation (SVV) and stroke volume index (SVI) as determined by FloTrac/Vigileo monitor. Fluid loading was applied when SVV was ≥13% or SVI was ≦33 mL/㎡, and a vasopressor was administered if SVI did not increase. [Results] The volume of administered fluid infusion and crystalloid solution per body weight, per hour, and urine volume were significantly smaller in the GDT group. Variation in vasopressor administration was also significantly less in the GDT group. [Conclusion] GDT management is useful for standardizing and optimizing of circulatory management in pancreas surgery.
