Description
Summary:This study aims to depict the research performance of University College of Medical Science (UCMS) in different areas or subfields of medical and health sciences. This study is based on a bibliometric analysis of scientific research output. The data of UCMS' research output are collected from the SCOPUS database by using different searching techniques. Some bibliometric indicators such as authorship pattern, degree of collaboration, author productivity, rank distribution etc. have been used to illustrate the research performance of researchers. A total of 2557 research papers have been published by researchers of UCMS since 1975 to November 2013. The result of this study shows that the highest contribution of 25.6 percent of total publications is made by three authorship collaboration. The degree of collaboration is 0.92, which means most of the research works are collaborative works. USA is the most preferred country by the researchers for research collaboration. This study will assist in understanding the research pattern of UCMS in the field of medical science.
