Abstract This study aimed to evaluate effect of different polishing materials on frequently consumed beverages discoloration of composites. 4 composite polishing systems (Zenit, 3M Soflex, Sofu, Kerr) and 3 types of beverages (Nescafe 3 in 1, Lipton tea bag and distilled water) were used. Microhybrid composite (Tokuyama) was preferred. 84 disc-shaped composite samples (8 mmx2 mm) were prepared and divided into 4 main groups according to polishing types and 3 subgroups according to beverage types. Initial, 1st, 7th and 28th day color measurements were made by Vita easyshade device. Statistical analyzes were performed by using SPSS 25.0 program; done with one-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD multiple comparison test (p=0.05). At 28-day coloration results, there was a statistically significant difference (p <0.05) between distilled water and coffee according to polishing groups. Distilled water results were higher Shofu and Zenit than Kerr, and in coffee results, Kerr was higher than Zenit. There was a statistically significant difference between 28-day coloration results of all polishing groups according to solutions (p<0.05), that tea results of all groups were higher than distilled water and coffee. Study revealed that; tea, causes more coloration than other beverages. Among polishing sets tested in research, while Zenitt showed higher performance in coffee-induced color change compared to Kerr and Shofu; Kerr showed higher performance in distilled water compared to the others. Supporting clinical studies should be conducted with different materials.
