The sugars were analyzed by gas chromatography. Only fructose, glucose, and sorbitol were identified in the chromatograms. Their contents were highest in Globigemmis (27.3% for fructose, 27.6% for glucose, and 14.2% sorbitol) and the wild form (25.2% fructose, 23.1% glucose and 14.5% sorbitol). |
