Description
Summary:The sugar composition in fruits of some cherry laurel cultivars (Oxygemmis, Globigemmis, and Angustifolia) and the wild form (Laurocerasus officinalisRoem.) have been examined. The sugars were analyzed by gas chromatography. Only fructose, glucose, and sorbitol were identified in the chromatograms. Their contents were highest in Globigemmis (27.3% for fructose, 27.6% for glucose, and 14.2% sorbitol) and the wild form (25.2% fructose, 23.1% glucose and 14.5% sorbitol).
