Summary: | Comparisons with surveys carried out in Australia and elsewhere indicate an improving dental health situation with a very much smaller proportion, particularly in younger age groups, losing all natural teeth, and with numbers of decayed, missing, and filled teeth reflecting the improvement already documented in schoolchildren. As with other recent studies, the proportion of subjects displaying generalized severe forms of periodontal disease was low. The single most important dental treatment need was the removal of calculus. |
