Lanthanide-Loaded Paramagnetic Liposomes as Switchable Magnetically Oriented Nanovesicles

Osmotically shrunken liposomes loaded with paramagnetic lanthanide(III) complexes orient in a static magnetic field according to the sign of their magnetic susceptibility anisotropy (Δχ). The magnitude and sign of Δχ are modulated by the magnetic properties of the LnIII ion, by the structural charac...

Description
Summary:Osmotically shrunken liposomes loaded with paramagnetic lanthanide(III) complexes orient in a static magnetic field according to the sign of their magnetic susceptibility anisotropy (Δχ). The magnitude and sign of Δχ are modulated by the magnetic properties of the LnIII ion, by the structural characteristics of the metal chelate, and by the stereochemical arrangement of the lipophilic substituents.
