Description
Summary:Styrene–butadiene–styrene (SBS) modified bitumen are generally used as binders in bituminous pavement because of the good performance. Under the influence of traffic, environment, and other factors, SBS modified bitumen would be aged, which mainly includes the aging of base bitumen and the degradation of SBS modifiers. With the view of resource recycling, aged SBS modified bitumen is usually rejuvenated to prepare recycled bituminous mixtures. The present paper reviews the state-of-the-art research on the rejuvenation of aged SBS modified bitumen. In detail, the rejuvenation paths of aged SBS modified bitumen are comprehensively introduced and discussed. According to the rejuvenation mechanism, the current rejuvenation paths mainly consist of only rejuvenation of aged base bitumen in modified bitumen and rejuvenation of aged base bitumen and degraded modifiers. On this basis, characteristics and challenges of different rejuvenation paths are discussed, and the corresponding recommendations are further listed for future exploration.
