| Summary: | The topic of our thesis is determining ikhtilaf al-hadith – taqiyya relation in specific to the work al-Istibsar by Sheikh al-Tusi. The introduction part of our study which consists of four chapters includes the topic, aim, method and resources of our study. In the first chapter, the life of Sheikh al-Tusi and his lifetime scientific struggle have been discussed. Among his works the importance of al-Istibsar in al-Kutub al-Arbaʿah has been considered which constitutes the topic of our study by including the work he compiled. In the second chapter; the description, importance and history of the science of ikhtilaf al-hadith in Imamah Shi’a has been covered. The reasons for disputes between the hadith and the methods to eliminate these disputes have been also touched briefly in this chapter. In the third chapter, the nature of taqiyye, its place and basis in Shi’a and various views on taqiyye have been emphasized; the elements causing taqiyye to emerge within the doctrine and types of taqiyye have also been discussed. Areas of use, function and dimensions of taqiyye in the hadith have been thoroughly analyzed, as well. The last chapter of our study has been allocated to the style and methodology followed for eliminating the disputes in the hadith through the work al-Istibsar by Sheikh al-Tusi and his methods used to total the disputed hadith have been determined and analyzed. Types of taqiyye used by Sheikh al-Tusi in the stories analyzed through taqiyye, the reasons for referring to the disputed story have been scrutinized. The topic has been presented by giving examples from the stories and related explanations. |
