Description
Summary:A method is developed to optimize the lateral resolution of a scanning proton microprobe using a 3 MeV cyclotron beam. The most important part of the method is the optimization of an asymmetrical quadrupole quadruplet, based on second-order relationships between diaphragm widths and the full width of the spot. A STIM example is presented of cellular structures of rat-heart tissue.
