Summary: | The article deals with the module 'Finite element method in solving problems of Structural Mechanics' of 'Mathematical Modeling' course for students pursuing a bachelor's degree in Construction field of study. The content includes the Finite Element Method (FEM) as a general method for the numerical solution of differential equations, as well as problem analysis with Computer Algebra System (CAS) Maple. It took seven years to carry out the educational experiment. 73 students from Sholom-Aleichem Priamursky State University, Pacific National University, Naryn State University, Far Eastern State Transport University, and Moscow State University of Civil Engineering participated in it. Most graduates who undertook further study in a master's program showed a higher level of mathematical proficiency and the skill of using top-of-the-line software systems designed to perform structural calculations. Therefore, the CAS Maple used in the course of FEM will give new insight into the principles and algorithms of this method. This will allow future builders to investigate component parts of any complexity in different current software suites. |
