Pick or fight: The Emergency Farm Labor Program in the Arkansas and Mississippi Deltas during World War II

During WWII, Mississippi and Arkansas Delta planters lost their labor force to the military or defense industries, so the USDA created the Emergency Farm Labor Supply Program. This and other programs supplied cheap and unskilled labor to harvest cotton and other crops.
