Summary: | When the energy required of electron beams greatly surpasses present capability, it will be advantageous to use inductive rather than capacitive storage for the prime energy source. This paper deals with development of technology for charging a storage inductor and for switching and transforming its stored energy for generation of an electron beam. A chemically powered generator which compresses magnetic flux provided by a superconducting co is utilized along with high efficiency pulse transformers. Design concepts and experimental results are presented. |
