Description
Summary:Prior studies on faculty attitudes about technology use, adoption, and associated best practices have provided insight for those offering support to faculty in higher education. The rapid evolution of technology and current events, including the COVID-19 pandemic, have made research into faculty adoption of technology even more important. The present study was designed to examine the impact of faculty motivation, attitudes, and beliefs on their decision to adopt technology into professional practice along with their preferences for support and the barriers that prevent them from adopting new technology. Results of this study indicate that faculty mindset and support type may play an integral role in ensuring adoption.Among other important findings, the ability of the institution to identify and remove barriers like lack of incentives, lack of time, and lack of stable infrastructure were found to be important in building a culture of innovation and technology adoption.
