Description
Summary:We have studied the possibility of using fish scales of a common carp as an active element of the electric power generator, the characteristics of scales, as well as their long-term stability. As a result of experimental investigation, the fact of EMF generation in the scales treated with dimethylsulfoxide was found. The EMF value increased from 20 to 250 mV at pressurize the single scale, then the values begin to fluctuate in the range of ~5 mV, and the generated current had a value of about 70 μA. The results of X-ray crystallography showed that the structure of collagen fibers is maintained throughout the whole observation period, which indicates the fundamental possibility of creating an alternative energy source based on this effect.
