Description
Summary:The yellowfin toadfish Colletteichthys flavipinnis was originally described from Sri Lanka and the east coast of India. In this report, we record the occurrence of C. flavipinnis from Kavvayi tropical estuarine wetland, Kerala, west coast of India, based on nine specimens having a maximum length of 235 mm. The species identity was corroborated using mitochondrial COI barcode gene tool. This paper confirms the extended distribution of the species towards the eastern Arabian Sea and provides the first report of this species from a tropical estuarine wetland, which connects to the Arabian Sea.
