Second derivative of photoplethysmogram in estimating vascular aging among diabetic patients

Summary: | Type 2 diabetes is one of the major risk factor for microvascular and coronary artery disease(CAD). Therefore, recurrent monitoring of arterial condition is essential. The photoplethysmogram (PPG) technique is a simple and cost effective technique in measuring blood volume change. Second derivative of photoplethysmogram (SDPPG) which is one of the applications of PPG was used for monitoring the arterial condition. Informal method SDPPG which substitutes the formal SDPPG aging index (SDPPG-AI) has been selected as an appropriate method to be applied. Test on twenty-three diabetic patients showed higher index of vascular aging compared to healthy subject. |
