Description
Summary:Tributes to Roman de la Campa are presented. Carolyn Fornoff of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign congratulates Roman on his retirement. She shares her appreciation and gratitude for his indelible impact on her intellectual and professional life. His classes at Penn were a space of academic rigor and excitement. Linda Grabner Travis of the University of Pennsylvania mentions that she and Roman shared the task of the smooth operation of Hispanic Review, but with their respective schedules, they never had the opportunity to really sit down and talk the way he did with his students. Dana Khromov of the University of Pennsylvania explains that in a field overridden with pomp and ceremony, she has always respected his dignified reserve - how he managed to sublimate the passion and excitement they all knew was there into measured eloquence and wit.
