Summary: | A 13-year-old male patient presented with an extra-oral swelling that was associated with an intra-oral lesion. The intra-oral swelling had a bony consistency and was located near the lower right first molar. Radiographic examination revealed an extensive, well-defined, unilocular radiolucent lesion measuring 10 cm in its largest diameter, with displacement of tooth 48. An intralesional puncture yielded citrine liquid content, and an incisional biopsy was performed, which revealed a cystic capsule. The treatment approach chosen was decompression, and after 14 days, a significant reduction in the lesion's dimensions was observed during the extra-oral physical examination, accompanied by an improvement in mouth opening. A follow-up histopathological examination indicated a diagnosis of follicular ameloblastoma. After 90 days, a substantial reduction in the lesion size was noted on a Computed Tomography scan, with considerable bone formation observed in the mandible. The patient is currently undergoing continued follow-up care. |
