Description
Summary:This paper presents an on-going research on development of 6-DOF robotic bed system to be used for Korea Heavy Ion Medical Accelerator (KHIMA) system launched by Korea Institutes of Radiological and Medical Sciences (KIRAMS). Since KIRAMS selected fixed beam lines for KHIMA system, it has less beam irradiation range than that of the system with a rotating gantry mechanism. In this paper, as part of the effort to extend the beam irradiation range, we analyze design requirements and treatment volume of the robotic bed system. The analysis result is verified by simulation tools such as MATLAB ® and DELMIA IGRIP ® . Finally we derive mechanical specifications and treatment requirements for the 6-DOF robotic bed system to meet all requirements and to extend beam irradiation range as much as possible.
