Summary: | Abstract
In collaboration with maple producers and cooperative extension agents in New York State and Pennsylvania, we conducted an outplanting trial of sugar maple seedlings selected for high sap sugar content. In addition to providing data about seedling survival and cultivation practices, the trials served as a focus for education efforts and strengthened partnerships between faculty and extension agents. For growers, the trials brought recognition and visibility, which some felt translated to marketing benefits, as well as opportunities to contribute to the maple industry and to enhance stewardship on their land. |
