Mandelshtam-Brillouin Scattering in As sub(2)S sub(3) and GeS sub(2) Chalcogenide Glasses

Mandelshtam-Brillouin and Rayleigh scattering in As sub(2)S sub(3) and GeS sub(2) chalcogenide glasses is investigated. Longitudinal hypersonic velocities, adiabatic elastooptical constants (p sub(12)) sub( )adat frequencies 15 GHz, extinction coefficients, and scattering losses are determined.
