Summary: | This paper introduces a configuration for an X-band microstrip patch array antenna that can be used in an electronic support measure (ESM) receiver. The antenna comprises an 8-element linear array, in which the elements are microstrip patches. The aperture coupling method is used for exciting the array elements. The arrangement of the patch elements and the feed structure are selected such that a 45 linear polarization with respect to the horizon is produced. After designing and optimization of the patch elements and feed network, the complete antenna structure is analyzed using HFSS software. Simulation results show that the requirements are obtained and especially the impedance bandwidth is about 24%. |
