Description
Summary:The clinical effects, safety and efficacy of cefozopran, a newly developed injectble cephalosporin, on pneumonia were investigated. The subjects were 6 inpatients with pneumonia, but one of them was excluded from the subjects, because the patient was clarified to have suffered pulmonary tuberuculosis during the treatment. All the 5 patients consisting of 4 men and 1 woman (ranging in age from 44 to 75 years) received intravenous cefozopran at a dose of 0.5-1.0g twice a day for 8-14 days. The drug was clinically effective in all patients. Pyogenic bacteria were identified in 4 patients, and they were eliminated. Although none of the patients had side effects, slight abnormalities in findigs of clinical tests observed in 2 patients. One of them had leukopenia and eosinophilia, and the other patient had leukopenia. There was no problem with the safety of this drug.
