Summary: | The growing popularity of EVs as a green transportation option has increased the need for conveniently located charging stations, since EVs can only go so far on their onboard batteries. However, the power system might be stressed by fast charging stations, particularly super-fast charging stations, due to the possibility of overload during peak hours, abrupt power gaps, and voltage dips. In-depth modelling of a DC power production and battery energy storage system incorporated into a multiport converter-based EV charging station is discussed in this study. In the event of a power outage or the more common but shorter-lasting distribution system fault, this project evaluates the viability of using Plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) in Vehicle to Home (V2H) scenarios, in which the vehicle serves as a residential battery storage system and/or backup generator. Both the simulated and experimental data confirm PCMM's viability and prove it can achieve the design goal. Using a space vector modulation approach and a simulation study, this charger has been developed and its functionality verified. The resulting simulation results predict that the suggested charger and a suitable autonomous EMS would interact adequately in a typical home scenario. |
