Description
Summary:Demand for high-quality quartz sand in Russia is constantly increasing. Existing approaches to the wet method of concentrating quartz sands were examined. Results of studying aero-electrodynamic concentration of quartz sands are reported. The concentration of iron oxides in the sands was estimated by photocolorimetric, atomic absorption (AAS), and XRF methods, and the concentration of aluminium oxide by photocolorimetric and AAS methods. In addition, the integral light transmission in the visible region of the spectrum was determined in glass samples fabricated from the quartz sands. Recommendations on using the new technology are given, and industrial applications and advantages of aero-electrodynamic technology are noted. 4 refs.
