Summary:	The minimum number of cells necessary for the graft transplantation of crown-gall tumors in Nicotiana tabacum was determined. In experiments, at least 10 tumor cells were necessary to produce a transplantation tumor in healthy shoots. From the results we calculated that one tumor cell is sufficient to give rise to a tumor.
