Description
Summary:Intravenous cannulation is a procedure to inject the drug inside the vein of our body. During this process, there will be a high probability of extravasation. Generally, extravasation is considered as the complication of IV cannulation which is occurred by leakage of drugs or medicinal fluids from the vein to the surrounding tissues when there is happened a mistake during intravenous therapy. There may be many reasons for extravasation during IV therapy and it depends upon how the treatment was done. Generally, extravasation is detected lately when a swelling or bump is noticed at the IV cannula-site indicating a large amount of infused fluid has tissued. Due to upcoming problems in the future, it is very important to detect the extravasation level in the required time, to ensure that whether the drugs/medicinal fluids have reached to intravascular space of patient or not. Otherwise, it can precarious medical management and compromise the care of the patient. In this paper we will detect the extravasation level by using a microstrip patch antenna and simulate the whole process using a software tool "ANSYS". We will see the simulation results and analyze the results by doing classification of extravasation level according to result given by wearable sensor.
