Summary: | The nasopalatine duct cyst is the most common nonodontogenic cystic lesion of the oral cavity, affecting about 1% of the population. Its origin is believed to be related to remnants of the nasopalatine duct. It usually presents symptoms such as swelling in the anterior region of the palate, drainage, and pain. This article reports the case of a 68-year-old female patient who on clinical examination presented a slight increase in volume located in the anterior portion of the hard palate, normochromic and with the presence of stimulated pain, with diagnostic hypothesis of nasopalatine duct cyst. Radiographic examinations revealed the presence of a translucent area, with clear limits and regular contour, located near the midline and the incisor foramen, compatible with the hypothesis of residual cyst. The patient was submitted to an excisional biopsy, and the specimen was sent for histopathologic analysis, which confirmed the diagnosis of nasopalatine duct cyst. |
