Description
Summary:Physician executives, if their experience is valued and leveraged, can bring changes in organizational strategies that can generate million dollars a year for the organization through savings and enhanced revenue. Further, physician executives are able to tie quality and finance together in meaningful ways for health care organizations. Finally, a hospital's most valuable resource is its medical staff. Professional leadership of the medical staff is an invaluable asset to a hospital system. Forward-looking organizations have increasingly demonstrated that the re-definition of the physician executive is accurate, pushing the boundaries of expectation outward in all directions. An example of this is the Aurora-BayCare system (BayCare) in Green Bay, WI. Physician executives are leading the charge to reclaim what people gave up but is rightfully already theirs: leadership of the health care systems, and defining the future of their profession and health care in the US.
