Summary:Highlights • Studies were performed to assess the efficacy of the membrane-active glycopeptide YV11455. • YV11455 displayed excellent activity against various drug-resistant clinical isolates. • YV11455 showed 270-fold and 136-fold greater activity than vancomycin against vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant enterococci. • Compared with vancomycin, YV11455 show excellent efficacy in a neutropenic mouse thigh infection model against meticillin-resistant S. aureus. • YV11455 showed improved pharmacological properties over vancomycin, with no toxicity.
