Comparison between the algebraic and the reduced-order extended state observer approaches for on-line load torque estimation in a speed control for PMSM system

Summary: | This paper presents a passivity-based control for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor; the torque is observed with a reduced-order extended state observer and a traditional reduced-order observer, which are compared with an online algebraic estimator. The Matlab-Simulink/PSIM simulation results show that the reduced-order extended state observer had a better performance in which the angular velocity was maintained at the desired reference value by the adapted controller, even under severe load changes on the motor shaft. |
