Summary: | In this paper, the authors propose designing Yagi-Uda antenna in the 162 MHz AIS receiver using freeware calculator. Yagi-Uda antenna is one of popular directional antennas used to replace the omni-receiving antenna that has been used in the AIS system. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of feasibility or accuracy of the freeware calculator used in designing the antenna. The antenna parameters used to test the accuracy of this freeware calculator are the VSWR value and the received electrical field strength. Based on measurements and simulations that have been carried out, it shows that a freeware calculator is feasible to use in designing the Yagi-Uda antenna for the 162 MHz AIS receiver, since it has a significant accuracy of 76.53% in determining field strength and 94.406% in determining the VSWR value. |
