Description
Summary:Energy efficiency aims to reduce the energy consumption and reduce the environmental impact, while not affecting the quality of the final product. It's importance is given on ecological, technological and economic levels. This paper presents a study, based on an electric efficiency point of view, of the operation of electric motors in the installations of the Benfica shopping mall, located in Fortaleza, analyzing if it is feasible to replace the current motors for newer ones, with higher efficiency levels and power ratings which match their actual load more closely. The methodology applied consists of the following steps: a visit to the company to assess the general conditions and installation of the motors, collection of their plate data, measurement of electrical parameters during their whole daily operation, choice of new motors, analysis of the exchange, calculation of the load and electric power of the new motors, economical feasibility analysis and comparison of the results obtained by the previous procedure to the ones rendered by simulators. Based on the results obtained by the procedure, it was possible to estimate the financial annual savings, the time of return of the investment, the energy savings during the year and the profit obtained with the exchange.
