Description
Summary:The main task of safety and health at work (OSH) is to protect the most important thing we have, the health of each of us. Employers have the ability to anticipate and prevent risks by properly implementing an occupational health and safety management system. In connection with accidents at work, in recent years both in our country and around the world, permanent OSH management systems have begun to be used. The purpose of these management systems is to make occupational health and safety activities simpler, clearer and easier to implement in the workplace, to help create a more effective prevention system and to ensure the effective participation of all employees, regardless of their level in the enterprise structure. Thanks to this, it is possible to reduce the number of accidents at work and occupational diseases, to continue scientific research on occupational health and safety, and to create an environment that will help improve the level of development of the country. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the benefits of OSH systems that can provide workers, businesses, and industries with ways to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses. For this purpose, a detailed review of the literature is conducted and the obtained results are comprehensively evaluated. The main task of the article is to describe the history of safety management systems to determine the state of implementation of the ISO 45001 system. Next, the article describes the ISO 45001 standard from the perspective of the PDCA Cycle and describes the benefits and importance of the implementation of the ISO 45001 standard.ISO 45001:2018 contains more requirements compared to previous editions of OHSAS standards. However, at the same time, it gives more freedom in their imple-mentation. The formulation of the standard can be considered a step forward ‒ it is clear and reflects the current situation in the business environment. Its structure is compatible with other management systems, in particular with the ISO 9001:2015 quality mana-gement system and the ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system. All three management standards have the same structure of sections, which allows you to create an integrated system of quality, environment, occupational health and safety management. The success of OSH management systems depends on the leadership, commitment and participation of all levels and functions of the organization; allocation of necessary resources, policies and goals in the field of occupational health and safety; compliance with legal and other requirements; effective management of safety risks; strict moni-toring; assessment of the effectiveness of the OSH management system; and integration of this system into the enterprise's business processes. Keywords: safety; management; ISO 45001; health; injuries, OSH
